Neon Blue Peacock

The Neon Blue Peacock (Aulonocara Astuartgranti) is a striking Lake Malawi cichlid prized for its vibrant coloration in mature males. This semi-aggressive omnivore reaches approximately 6 inches and thrives in established tanks of at least 50 gallons with stable conditions: 78°F temperature, pH 7.0-8.0, and moderate hardness. Feed a protein-rich diet of quality pellets, frozen bloodworms, daphnia, and brine shrimp while avoiding tubifex worms. Males display sharper dorsal and anal fin edges with bold blue hues, while females show more subdued coloring with distinctive vertical barring. These mouth brooders are best bred in dedicated 100-gallon tanks, as spawning pairs become highly territorial. With proper care, expect a lifespan of 6-10 years.
